Cyber Defense Made in Europe

Buchreihe-Digitale-Verteidigungslinien-Band-1-bis-Band-3

The Project

Europe has the technological expertise, digital sovereignty, and industrial base to defend itself against cyber threats. What’s missing is visibility into these capabilities. Entrepreneurs don’t know what solutions are available. Politicians lament dependencies. Journalists spin tales about supposed gaps.

This book series changes that. The question is not whether Europe possesses the technology for cyber defense, but whether decision-makers are familiar with and make use of this technology. “Digital Lines of Defense – Cyber Defense Made in Europe” systematically highlights European providers of hardware, software, and consulting services in the fields of cyber defense and cybersecurity.

Purpose of the book series

We have three clear objectives:

Knowledge Transfer

To provide entrepreneurs and decision-makers with a structured overview of available cyber defense solutions from Western Europe.

Political Education

To show top politicians that Europe has long had the technologies that are the subject of debates on digital sovereignty.

Market Positioning

To provide European providers with a high-quality platform to present their solutions to top management and supervisory boards.

Concept and Structure of the Book Series

The books classify cyber defense technologies into three categories and profile companies from Western Europe that operate in these fields. The geographic scope includes the European Union, plus Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

The three categories

Hardware

Firewalls, secure servers, encrypted storage solutions, hardware security modules (HSM), network components with built-in security features

Software

SIEM systems, EDR/XDR solutions, threat intelligence platforms, cryptography software, secure cloud infrastructures, zero-trust architectures

Expertise / Consulting / Services

Penetration Testing, Security Operations Center (SOC), Incident Response, Compliance Consulting (NIS2, DORA, CRA), Cyber Resilience Strategies

Structure of the Company Profile

Each participating company is allocated four pages per category to showcase its solutions. The information is presented using a standardized questionnaire, which ensures that all companies are presented in a comparable manner and that readers can quickly find the information relevant to them.

A company may be listed in up to three categories, provided it offers relevant solutions. In this case, the company receives three sets of four pages (for a total of twelve pages).

Scope and Reach

More than 250 companies from Western Europe (the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom) were identified and invited to participate in the book series. The book series is expected to be between 1,000 and 1,200 pages long, making it the most comprehensive compendium of available European cyber defense expertise.

Benefits for Participating Companies

Participation in the “Digital Lines of Defense – CyberDefense Made in Europe” book series project offers participating companies significant added value that goes far beyond traditional advertising. The following section outlines the specific benefits included in participation for each category.

Production and Release

Creation of the main text in German and translation into English, editing, layout, printing, and distribution of the book series “Digital Defense Lines – CyberDefense Made in Europe.” The company will receive a professional, four-page presentation of its solutions in a high-quality non-fiction book that will be positioned as a reference work for cyber defense in Europe.

Reach Through Press Coverage

The publication of the book series “Digital Defense Lines – CyberDefense Made in Europe” will be accompanied by targeted press and public relations efforts. Planned activities include articles in trade publications, interviews, and guest columns, as well as a presentation, for example, at the PresseClub München e.V. Participating companies will benefit from the project’s overall reach.

Positioning as a European thought leader

Participation in the book series “Digital Lines of Defense – CyberDefense Made in Europe” signals that companies are actively committed to European digital sovereignty. In times of geopolitical uncertainty and increasing regulation (KRITIS, NIS2, DORA, CRA), this positioning provides a strategic advantage over non-European competitors.

Direct Mailings to Top Politicians and Customers

Each participating company may nominate five high-ranking politicians and fifteen corporate clients to receive a printed copy of the book series. The participating company is responsible for selecting the recipients.

Top politicians include:

  • Chancellor / Prime Minister / Head of State
  • Party Chairs and Caucus Chairs in the Parliaments
  • Military Tours
  • Members of relevant committees (Digitalization, Internal Security, Economy)

This example illustrates the following: A medium-sized company that develops threat intelligence software can specifically target decision-makers relevant to its industry, thereby gaining access to networks that are difficult or impossible to reach through traditional sales channels.
